Clover The Bee – Amigurumi Pattern

Today I’m sharing Clover The Bee, an amigurumi pattern that I created with my Clover Amour Crochet Hook and my other Clover tools that I absolutely love! Happy Earth Day!

Clover The Bee has an adorable round belly, big soulful eyes, and his shirt is complete with a collar and buttons.
Small pom-poms add the finishing touch to Clover’s cute little antennae. These cute little pom-poms are extra easy to make with Clover’s extra small pom-pom makers.

- Clover Amour Crochet Hook – 4mm (Art. No 1045/G)
- Clover Pom-Pom Maker – Extra Small 1″ (Art. No 3127)
- Medium 4 Weight Weight Yarn in: Black (Mary Maxim Starlette in black): 25 grams; Yellow (Mary Maxim Starlette in soft yellow): 20 grams; White (Mary Maxim Starlette in white) 10 grams
- Mini Patchwork Scissors (Art. No 493/CW)
- Darning needle (Art. No 339)
- 2 Stitch markers (Art. No 3033)
- Polyester Fiberfill or yarn scraps
- Safety eyes ( 2 in 5 mm and 2 in 10 mm)

7 sts and 9 rows = 2 inches

Notes
If substituting yarn with a different yarn weight and different hook size, the bee will come out a different size. Use a heavier weight yarn and a larger hook for a larger bee and lighter weight yarn and a smaller hook for a smaller bee.

The Pattern
The Body
The body of the bee is worked in a spiral. Mark the beginning of each round with a stitch marker.
With black yarn:
R1: Make a magic ring or a loose slip knot and ch 1, put 6 sc into the magic ring or loose slip knot. =6
Pull on the tail end to close the hole.
R2: 2sc into ea st around. =12
R3: *2sc into the next st, sc into the next st. Repeat from the * around. =18
R4: *sc into the next 2 sts, 2sc into the next st. Repeat from the * around. =24
R5: *2sc into the next st, sc into the next 3 sts. Repeat from the * around. =30
R6-R7: sc into ea st around. =30
This is a good place to weave in the tail end and flip right side out.
R8: Insert the hook into the BLO of the next st, yo with yellow, pull through both loops on the hook to create a sl st. Mark the FLO of this st with a different st marker,
sc into the next st. This st is counted as the 1st st of this round. Mark this st with the original st marker,
sc into the next 28 sts. Insert the hook under the marked FLO, yo and finish the sc. =30
R9: sc into ea st around. =30
R10: sc into ea st around until you get to the last st of the round. Insert the hook into the last st, yo and pull up a loop, yo with black and pull through all the loops on the hook. =30
R11: sc into ea st around. =30
R12: sc into ea st around until you get to the last st of the round. Insert the hook into the last st, yo and pull up a loop, yo with yellow and pull through all the loops on the hook. =30
R13: sc into ea st around. =30
R14: *inv sc dec, sc into the next 3 sts. Repeat from the * around. =24
R15: *inv sc dec, sc into the next 2 sts. Repeat from the * around until you get to the last st of the round. Insert the hook into the last st, yo and pull up a loop, yo with white and pull through all the loops on the hook. =18
R16: Working into the FLO: sc into ea st around. =18
R17: ch 1 and turn your work,
sc into the same st, sc into the next 4 sts, 2hdc into the next st, (dc, ch 1, tc, ch 1, dc) into the next st, 2hdc into the next st, sl st into the next 2 sts, 2hdc into the next st, (dc, ch 1, tc, ch 1, dc) into the next st, 2hdc into the next st, sc into the next 5 sts.=30
Cut the yarn and pull through the last stitch and then make an invisible join. Weave in the ends, add safety eyes as buttons and stuff with polyester fiberfill.
Head
The head of the bee is worked in a spiral. Mark the beginning of each round with a stitch marker.
With yellow yarn:
R1: Make a magic ring or a loose slip knot and ch 1, put 6 sc into the magic ring or loose slip knot. =6
Pull on the tail end to close the hole.
R2: 2sc into ea st around. =12
R3: *2sc into the next st, sc into the next st. Repeat from the * around. =18
R4: *sc into the next 2 sts, 2sc into the next st. Repeat from the * around. =24
R5: *2sc into the next st, sc into the next 3 sts. Repeat from the * around. =30
R6-R9: sc into ea st around. =30
R10: *sc into the next 3 sts, inv sc dec. Repeat from the * around. =24
This is a good place to weave in the tail end, flip right side out and start lightly stuffing with polyester fiberfill.
R11: *inv sc dec, sc into the next 2 sts. Repeat from the * around. =18
Cut the yarn leaving the tail end long enough to sew to the body later, pull through the last stitch and make an invisible join. Add safety eyes and finish stuffing with polyester fiberfill.
Hat
The hat for the bee is worked in a spiral. Mark the beginning of each round with a stitch marker.
With black yarn:
R1: Make a magic ring or a loose slip knot and ch 1, put 6 sc into the magic ring or loose slip knot. =6
Pull on the tail end to close the hole.
R2: 2sc into ea st around. =12
R3: *2sc into the next st, sc into the next st. Repeat from the * around. =18
R4: *sc into the next 2 sts, 2sc into the next st. Repeat from the * around. =24
R5: *2sc into the next st, sc into the next 3 sts. Repeat from the * around. =30
R6-R11: sc into ea st around. =30
Cut the yarn leaving the tail end long enough to sew to the head later, pull through the last st and make an invisible join. Weave in the beginning tail end and flip right side out.
Antenna (make 2)
With black yarn:
R1: Make a magic ring or a loose slip knot and ch 2, put 3 dc into the magic ring or loose slip knot and sl st to the top of the ch 2. =4
Pull on the tail end to close the hole.
Cut the yarn leaving the tail end long enough to sew to the hat later, pull through the last stitch. Weave in the other end.
Pom-Pom (make 2)
Using a 1” Clover Pom-Pom Maker (wrap approximately 35 times on each side) or a homemade pom-pom maker. Make a pom-pom for each antennae.
Trim and leave one tail end long enough to sew to the antenna. Sew to the antennae.
Wing (make 2)
The wings for the bee are worked in a spiral. Mark the beginning of each round with a stitch marker.
With white yarn:
R1: Make a magic ring or a loose slip knot and ch 1, put 6 sc into the magic ring or loose slip knot. =6
Pull on the tail end to close the hole.
R2: 2sc into ea st around. =12
R3: sc into ea st around. =12
R4: *2sc into the next st, sc into the next st. Repeat from the * around. =18
R5-R6: sc into ea st around. =18
This is a good spot to weave in the tail end and flip right side out.
R7: *inv sc dec, sc into the next st. Repeat from the * around. =12
R8-R11: sc into ea st around. =12
R12: inv sc dec, sc into the next st. Repeat from the * around. =8
Cut the yarn leaving the tail end long enough to whip stitch and sew to the body and pull through the last stitch. Whip stitch in each stitch around and pull tight to close the hole.
Assembly
Sew the head of the bee to the body by sewing in the open back loops that were left unworked.
Sew the hat to the head.
Sew the antennae to the hat.
Sew the wings to the back of the bee on the body.
