DIY Fat Quarter Dog Bandana
Hi friends! Today we have a fun and easy make to use up the fat quarters we’ve all been hoarding, I mean saving for years and years. Dog bandanas are a fun way to show off your favorite pets personality as well as coordinate for pictures and events or holidays. Make just one or go all out and sew up several at a time to share with all your favorite dogs!
What you will need:
- One fat quarter of fabric (or a square of 18×18 inch fabric)
- Cutting Mat – Art. No 7520
- Ruler
- Rotary Cutter (45mm) – Art. No 7500
- Mini Wonder Clip (Assorted) – Art. No 3189
- How It Precision Stiletto – Art. No 7807
- Thread
and a snap set if you choose to add one
To start, iron your fabric to get any fold seams out, if making more than one press all at once to save time.
Lay your fabric right side up, for this one I used a woven fabric that is reversible.
Take your top right corner and fold over pulling to bottom left corner making a triangle. Using your ruler and rotary cutter, trim the excess fabric from the left edge.
Clip your edges to hold in place, for this simple project I reached for these tiny yet mighty Mini Wonder Clips. Sew around the raw edges using a 1/4 seam allowance and leaving a four inch opening to turn fabric. Once sewn, turn right side out and use a turning tool to push corners out. Top stich along sewn edges closing your open seam as you go.
One of my dogs is bigger and more fluffy so for his bandana I added a snap, the other two pups are able to have theirs tied with room to spare.
I plan to make more of these for my little pack so they can change with the seasons, as well as making an easy gift for fellow dog lovers.
