Book Sleeve *crochet pattern*

Snuggle up with this delightful crochet pattern, where charming flower granny squares come together to create a warm and inviting design. Hi all, my name is Julie from @handsofzeal on IG, and today I’m going to show you how to create a crocheted book sleeve. Perfect for protecting your favorite book, this cozy sleeve adds a touch of handmade love to your reading routine 🙂

MATERIALS:

 

FLOWER SQUARE (make 6):

  • With yellow, ch 4, join with a sl st to the first ch to form a ring.
    • Round 1: Ch 1, 6 sc inside the ring. Join with a sl st to the first sc. (6 sc)
    • Round 2: ch 1, 2 sc in each st around. Join with a sl st to the first sc. (12 sc)
  • Finish off yellow.
    • Round 3: Attach pink in any sc, ch 4, keeping the last loop of each st on the hook, 2 tr in the same sc, yarn over and draw through all 3 loops on the hook, ch 3, *keeping the last loop of each st on the hook, 3 tr in the next sc, yarn over and draw through 4 loops on the hook, ch 3, repeat from * 10 times, join with a sl st to the tip of the first petal. (12 petals)
  • Finish off pink.
    • Round 4: Attach green to any ch-3 sp, ch 3, (3 dc, ch 2, 4 dc) in the same sp (first corner), * (4 dc in the next ch-3 sp) twice, (4 dc, ch 2, 4 dc) in the next ch-3 sp, repeat from * twice, (4 dc in the next ch-3 sp) twice, join with a sl st to the top of the starting ch.
  • Finish off green.
  • Now slip stitch the squares together.

BORDER:

  • With light blue, attach yarn in any corner sp. Ch 1.
    • Round 1: 1 sc evenly across to the corner, (1 sc, ch 2, 1 sc) in the corner sp, *1 sc evenly across to the next corner, (1 sc, ch 2, 1 sc) in the corner sp*, repeat from * around. Join with a sl st to the the first sc.
    • Round 2: Ch 1, 1 sc in each st around, placing (1 sc, ch 2, 1 sc) in each corner sp. Join with a sl st to the first sc.
  • Finish off light blue.

TOP AND BOTTOM (make 2):

  • With light pink, ch 28.
    • Row 1: 1 hdc in the 3rd ch from the hook and in each ch across. Ch 2, turn.
    • Row 2: 1 hdc in each st across.
  • Now sl st the piece along the inside of the top and then along the bottom.
  • Weave in all ends, and then turn right side out. Then cover up your favorite book!

 

And there you have it! Your very own book sleeve!
