Diamond Dot Infinity Scarf

Hello! This is Kathy Olivarez, the designer behind Kathy’s Crochet Closet. I’m excited to be back on the Clover Blog with a new crochet project: the Diamond Dot Infinity Scarf!

I love using geometric shapes in my designs, and the diamond might be my favorite. It’s not surprising that the raised dots in this scarf are forming little diamond shapes! The dots are made with simple cluster stitches and the rest of the scarf is just double crochet and single crochet. Such a fun and easy scarf to make!

The yarn I used for this project is Loops & Threads Charisma, a bulky weight yarn that comes in lots of colors. The hook is my favorite Clover Amour hook in the size M/N 9mm.  This hook feels so good in your hand and the yarn just glides! The finished infinity scarf measures 60” around and 7.5” wide and wraps twice around your neck for a cozy cloud of warmth.  Let’s get started!

Difficulty level: Easy

Materials

  • Loops & Threads Charisma, CYC 5, bulky weight yarn: 3 skeins in Mustard
  • Amour Crochet Hook M/N 9.0mm – Art. No 1056/MN
  • Clover Jumbo Darning Needle Set – Art. No 340
  • Clover Patchwork Scissors Mini – Art. No 493/CW

Abbreviations:

ch – chain

cl – cluster (see stitch notes)

dc – double crochet

rs – right side

sc – single crochet

sl st – slip stitch

st – stitch

sts – stitches

ws – wrong side

Gauge: 10 rows of 9 sc = 4”

Pattern Notes:

  • To start the scarf, you will crochet the first row into the back ridge of the foundation chain, instead of the traditional way of crocheting into the chain.

  • Join with slip stitch at the end of each round.
  • Turn as indicated in the instructions.

Stitch Notes:

Cluster (cl): Yarn over, insert hook in stitch, yarn over, pull through stitch, yarn over, pull through 2 loops on hook, (yarn over, insert hook in same stitch, yarn over, pull through stitch, yarn over, pull through 2 loops on hook) 2 times, yarn over, pull through all 4 loops on hook.

Infinity Scarf Instructions

Foundation Chain: Ch 120 (not tight). Join ends of chain as follows:

Remove the hook from the working loop.

Re-insert hook into the working loop from the back.

Insert hook into the first back ridge loop at the starting end of the chain. Make sure the chain isn’t twisted.

Pull the loop through. (Don’t yarn over.)

Pull gently on the working end of the yarn, making the yarn snug around the new working loop.

Continue as directed in round 1.
