Mini-Makes Crochet Along – Mini Paint Palette Crochet Pattern

The holiday cheer is in full swing with Christmas only being a couple of weeks away! We invite you to join us for our crochet-along event from December 6-21. Read the blog post HERE for all of the details including the fun prizes we will be offering for our participants. 

 

Our third pattern is this MINI PAINT PALETTE! Time: ~1 hr.

 

 

NOTES

  • Please do not copy/redistribute any part of this pattern as your own. This includes reposting/translating without permission.

  • We will be working in joined rounds. We will use the YUYU method (yarn under, yarn under).
  • This pattern is written in US terminology.
  • Measurements: 1.5 in. x 1 in. [3.81 cm x 2.54 cm] if using the prescribed materials.
  • Difficulty: Intermediate +

 

 

MATERIALS

  • #3 light worsted yarn (Hobbii Friends Cotton Yarn 8/8)

-White

  • Embroidery thread

Red, blue, yellow, brown, green

  • 2.75 mm and 1.50 mm hook
  • Stitch marker, yarn needle, scissors
  • UHU glue

 

 

ABREVIATIONS

  • ch: chain
  • dc: double crochet
  • dc-inc: double crochet increase
  • hdc: half double crochet
  • hdc-inc: half double crochet increase
  • inc: increase
  • sc: single crochet
  • slst: slip stitch
  • st(s): stitch(es)
  • tr: treble crochet
  • rnd(s): round(s)

 

Let’s get started!


Paint Palette (in white yarn, 2.75 mm hook)

* = slst into the first st to join the rnd

 

Make a slipknot and ch 6, slst to the first st to make a loop. Mark the first st with a st marker.

rnd 1: Make 12 sc by going into the center of the ring, not the individual chains, *. [12]

 

rnd 2: ch 1 (counts as the first st), sc into the same st, inc, inc, hdc-inc, dc-inc, 3 tr into the next st, 3 tr into the next st, 2 tr into the next st, hdc into the same st, slst into to the st marked with the st marker. [no st count needed]

 

Fasten off and leave a tail for weaving in.

 

 

Paint Globs (in embroidery thread, 1.50 mm hook)

 

*Make one of each color

rnd 1: Make a magic circle and (sc) x6 [6]

 

Use the invisible finish and leave a short tail.

 

 

Assembly

 

Carefully tuck in the tails and secure each paint glob onto the palette with glue.

 

Paint Brush (start in brown embroidery thread, 1.50 mm hook)

 

*Note: crochet over your tails.

step 1: Make a magic circle and (sc) x6, slst into the first st, ch 2, slst into the next 2 sts, slst in Green embroidery thread. [6]

Continue onto the brush handle.

 

step 2: ch 8, start from the second ch from the hook and make 7 slst down the ch.

 

step 3: Fasten off and weave in any remaining tails.

 

step 4: Secure the back with a tiny bit of glue to prevent the slippery thread from coming undone.

 

You’re finished!
