Crochet Pop Tart Pattern
These sweet pop tarts are the perfect addition to any play kitchen, and are a great alternative to plastic toys. You only need small bits of yarn as well, so this is a nice scrap yarn project

- Soft Touch Crochet Hook I (5.5mm)- Art. No 1009
- Scissors
- Gold Eye Tapestry Needle (No. 18-22) – Art. No 238
- Medium weight scrap yarn in colors of your choosing. I’m using white, beige, pink, orange, green, and yellow.
The pop tart is made by creating 2 separate rectangular pieces that you will sew together. One is the “pastry” and the other is the “frosting”.
Step 1 – Pastry
Row 1: Using beige yarn and I hook, chain 11. Single crochet in the second chain from the hook, and in the next 9 chains. Chain 1 and turn your work.
Row 2: Single crochet in each stitch across (10), chain 1, and turn.
Rows 3-13: Repeat row 2.
Row 14: Single crochet in each stitch across (10) and chain 1 (but don’t turn).
Trim: Single crochet down each side of the rectangle you’ve created. This will smooth out the edges. Always chain 1 before turning the corners to give the corners a sharper look. Finish with a slip stitch, tie off, and leave a long yarn tail. Set this aside for now.
Step 2 – Frosting
Row 1: Using white yarn and G hook, chain 10. Single crochet in the second chain from the hook, and in the next 8 chains. Chain 1 and turn your wook.
Row 2: Single crochet in each stitch across (9), chain 1, and turn.
Rows 3-14: Repeat row 2.

Step 3 – Sprinkles and Sewing
Using your “sprinkle” colored yarn, cut 4-5 pieces of each color in about 8 inch sections. Use your tapestry needle to sew in little sprinkles to the “frosting” scattered throughout. Then, using your needle and the long frosting tail, sew your frosting and pastry together. Tie off excess yarn and weave in the end.
