It’s always fun to play with new sewing tools, especially when you find ones that you love to use over and over for ease of sewing. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again; Clover has the best collection of sewing tools and I’ve got a little rundown of some pressing tools for you.
Iron Finger
First up we have this Iron Finger which almost resembles a rubber spatula. This can be helpful to roll seams flat, push corners and seams when turning a project right side out, press to flatten edges of a project and is useful for pressing seams open on the handle as it is heat resistant.
Hot Ruler and Hot Hemmer
The Hot Ruler and Hot Hemmer are something I had never tried before but had always wondered about especially when needing a precise 1/4 inch seam pressed. The stiff, felt like material is great for handling while working with a hot iron and has several other uses like measuring and mitered corners. I found it helpful to use a bit of spray or steam while working with a small pressed over edge like this to give the fabric more hold.
Hold It Precision Stiletto
The Hold It Precision Stiletto has many uses and was helpful in holding fabrics while ironing to save my fingers as well as a guide for pushing or pulling fabrics through while sewing, especially thinner types such as lawns that tend to get pushed down into the sewing machine otherwise. This little double ended tool is great to have on hand.
Point 2 Point Turner
The Point 2 Point Turner has a Hera marker on one end for marking sewing lines that don’t need washing out and a long point on the other end for turning out edges and points. I keep one of these handy right next to my sewing machine.
Roll & Press
And last but not least is my favorite pressing tool the Roll & Press! I’ve used one of these for a couple years now and can not sew without one! I am often asked how I manage to finish quilts in a short amount of time and one of my best tips (besides letting the housework go!) is that I don’t stop to iron until the quilt top is all pieced. I use this handy seam roller to quickly press my seams either open or to one side and then carry on sewing without having to stop to iron. Time saver! It is also an absolute MUST for foundation paper piecing as well. This tool is also kept right by my desk so it is always ready to go!
I hope this has been a helpful tool round up for you, what tools make your sewing smoother?
