DIY Valentine’s Day Candy Pouch
Hello everybody! It’s Duana with @duana_m_chandler and @duanastudio. Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, which means it is the perfect time to share love and sweet treats with those who matter most. Instead of store-bought packaging, why not add a personal touch with this handmade candy pouch? Whether you’re gifting chocolates to a loved one, handing out treats to friends, or making something special for your kids, this DIY candy pouch is an easy and thoughtful way to wrap up your Valentine’s goodies. On Valentine’s Day, my family likes to go to a local restaurant and give our daughter gifts and candy. Here, I’ll share with you on how to create a charming and festive pouch that’s as delightful as the sweets inside to share with someone you love.
MATERIALS:
- Clover Rotary Cutter (60 mm)
- Clover Flower Pins
- Clover Wonder Clips
- 1/2 yard Fabric
- 5” or 6” Zipper
- 2 ribbons or bias tape (9”)
TUTORIAL:
1) Cut two pieces of fabric (12 in x 14 in) using the Clover Rotary Cutter (60 mm).
2) Place zipper at the center wrong sides up on shorter side of the right side of the fabric. Place the other fabric right sides facing on the zipper. Use Clover Flower Pins to hold in place. I used the Clover Wonder Clips to mark the ends of the zipper. Sew the zipper in place using your sewing machine.
3) Turn the fabric it right sides out. Topstitch the zipper.
4) With right sides facing, fold the fabric width wise and match the other side of the zipper to the edge of the outer fabric. Do the same with the lining, but bring it around to the other side of the zipper. Use Clover Wonder Clips to hold in place. Stitch the zipper and fabric together.
5) Turn right sides out and topstitch the other side of the zipper.
6) Open out the pouch so that fabric is right sides facing. Pin the raw edged corners together and sew using 1/2″ seam allowance.
7) Turn right sides out. Fold edges of fabric ½” to the wrong side on the sides opposite each other. Hold in place and stitch around.
8) Take the bias tape or ribbon and tie a knot around both ends. Turn the knots to the back for a cleaner look.
And there you have it — a simple yet adorable DIY candy pouch, perfect for Valentine’s Day! Whether you’re surprising a loved one, sharing treats with friends, or making gifts for a classroom, this handmade pouch adds a special touch to your sweet surprises Have fun getting creative with colors, patterns, and decorations to make each pouch unique to each person! Happy crafting and may your Valentine’s Day be filled with love <3 (and candy!)
