Snowman Ornament- DIY
Hey Clover family, it’s Danielle from sprinklesofzeal.com, and I’m back this month to spread some Christmas cheer with a new cross-stitch pattern. Today we will be creating a snowman ornament that can be placed on your Christmas tree or gifted to a loved one. This pattern is beginner-friendly, measuring 1.7″ wide x 2.7″ tall. It’s possible to finish the ornament within a few hours or a day, depending on your cross-stitching skills.
There’s nothing like creating a handmade decoration that can pass from generation to generation. I hope this little snowman fits right in with your Christmas ornaments for years to come. Alright, let’s gather the materials and get started!

Step 1. Measure and cut a 3″ x 5″ paper template, then fold the paper in half twice to find the center. Create a dot using a pen or pencil.
Perforated canvas is a bendable plastic used for projects that may receive more wear and tear. It’s excellent for making cross-stitch ornaments and bookmarks.
Step 2. Slide the paper template underneath the perforated canvas, find the dot, then mark the center of the canvas using Clover’s Water Erasable Marker.
Step 3. Slide the embroidery thread inside Clover’s Gold Eye Tapestry Needle using Clover’s Double Needle Threader.
Pro Tip: Organizing your embroidery thread in advance using Clover’s Dome Threader is a lifesaver. If you want to see it in action, check it out here.
Step 4. Start stitching out the pattern using 3 or 4 strands of embroidery thread.
Step 5. Hold the canvas tight and trim around the snowman’s body. Be sure to trim slowly during this step, so you don’t snip into the embroidery thread.
Step 6. Before adding the ribbon, we need to hide the back of the snowman using felt. Trace the snowman’s body using Clover’s Water Erasable Marker, then cut the felt using Clover’s Ultimate Bordeaux Scissors.
Cut 4″ of ribbon, then add it to the felt using hot glue.
Step 7. Hot glue the snowman to the felt to finish the ornament.
That’s it! I hope this cross-stitched snowman adds some extra cheer to your Christmas tree. If you are looking for more cross-stitch patterns to enjoy, click here!
