Mommy-and-Me Santa Hats- Crochet Pattern

Few things are sweeter than these Mommy-and-me Santa hats! (except…maybe some delicious hot cocoa).

Hey everyone! It’s Amy from curiouspapaya. Inspired by my own little one (who’s suddenly feeling not-so-little next to her new baby brother), these sweet Santa hats are sure to keep your heads – and hearts warm.

Make these for the whole family in classic red or pastel pink – they’re sure to be a crowd favorite.

Rnd 26: ch 2, dc into the same st, dc into the next 9 sts, (dc inc, 9 dc) x4, slst into the first st [55]

At this point, check the length. Depending on your gauge, you may want to stop here.

Rnd 27-28 (2 rnds total): ch 2, dc all around, slst into the first st [55]

Rnd 29: ch 2, dc into the same st, dc into the next 10 sts, (dc inc, 10 dc) x4, slst into the first st with the fluffy yarn for the cuff. [60]

Fasten off the main color and leave a short tail to crochet over – or – to weave in at the end. Change to a 10 mm hook and continue in the fluffy yarn.

Rnd 30: ch 2, skip the next st, dc into the next. Continue to dc in every other st around the whole hat. slst into the first st.

Fasten off and weave in your ends.

*Note: This yarn is significantly thicker than the yarn you will be using for your main color and so are skipping stitches to prevent scrunching.

Pom Pom (in fluffy yarn and 10 mm hook):

*Tip: Don’t skip using the stitch marker. This yarn is very forgiving, but you can feel for the stitches and crochet very loosely if you need to count your stitches!

Rnd 1: Make a magic circle and (sc) x6 [6]

Rnd 2: (sc, inc) x3 [9]

Rnd 3: sc all around [9]

Rnd 4: (sc, dec) x3 [6]

No need to stuff as this yarn is already very bulky. Fasten off.

Thread your needle and sew through the flo and cinch the hole closed.

Using the yarn tail we left at the start of the hat, sew the pom pom to the top and weave in the ends.

Child/Adult Hat (starting in main color and 6 mm hook)

Rnd 3-4 (2 rnds total): ch 2, dc all around, slst into the first st [18]
