Abstract Earrings – Beading Tutorial

Hey Clover family,

It’s Danielle from sprinklesofzeal, and I’m back this month to share how you can create abstract earrings using Clover’s Beading Loom. Today’s pattern is great for people who love beading or want to ease into the beading world. These abstract earrings combine three beautiful colors that will surely make your outfits shine year-round! Okay, are you ready to make create some handmade beadwork? Let’s gather the materials.

Here’s what you’ll need to create the abstract earrings:

Directions

Step 1. Download the abstract beading pattern.

Click here to download and print the pattern. If you don’t have a printer, use your phone to view it as a PDF.

Step 2. Step up the loom.

Set the Clover Beading Loom to the longest setting. See below where the adjustment knobs should be positioned.

Step 3. Add the warp threads

Add a slip knot to the peg, then begin winding 13 warp threads from peg to peg. Don’t forget to add 1 additional warp thread for a total of 14. The 14th thread will hold the working needle (weft).

Tension Tip: Remember to wrap the thread once or twice around the peg each time to help with tension.

Once the tension is good, insert the metal stoppers to prevent jumping warp threads.

Step 4. Thread and attach the weft needle

Use Clover’s Double threader to thread the weft needle.

Add the end of the weft (needle) thread to the last left warp thread and knot it.

Clip the weft thread to the winding beam with the warp holder.

Step 5. Begin the beading process.

Start the beading process by placing (13) DB-42 Gold Beads on the weft needle, then lining them up between each warp thread using your finger. Place the weft needle inside the beads, then push the needle through to the other side. Don’t forget to make sure the needle is above the warp threads while passing through beads.

Once you have completed the pattern, create a knot on the last right warp thread.

Step 6. Finishing the earrings.

Alright! It’s time to weave those warp threads into the earring. This is probably the most time-consuming part of beading on a loom, but it’s okay. We can do it!

Remove the stopper, peg, and warp holder from the loom, then trim the loops.

Review the weaving method shown on the paper directions provided with your loom.

Trim the leftover warp threads after weaving.

Step 7. Adhere the post earrings.

Add a little E9000 glue to the post earring, then adhere it to the back of the beaded earring. I placed my post closer to the second row, but you can change the position to suit your liking.

That’s it! Now it’s time to dress up and strut with your new beaded earrings! Don’t you love how these three colors mesh together?

I hope you found this beading blog not only fun but helpful! If you enjoyed this tutorial, be sure to show me your Abstract Earrings with the hashtag #makeitwithzeal and tag me @sprinklesofzeal on all social media. I can’t wait to see your creations!

Well, until next time, have a craftastic day!
