Buondì Washcloth Pattern- Knitting & Crochet Pattern

Hello Makers! It’s Elise, the maker and designer behind Frosia Knits. I’m thrilled to be back on the blog and share with you a new washcloth pattern!

The Buondì Washcloth has a classic simple design with the option to add a little texture to help with scrubbing.

This pattern is knit flat, bottom up and then finished with surface crochet details. I always remember waking up and greeting the sun while we lived in Siena, Italy. This washcloth was inspired by those morning moments and the rays of sun beaming in from the big windows in our apartment. I added the cable stitch pattern as a nod to those sunbeams so I will be reminded of those memories every time I use these washcloths. I hope these bring you that same morning joy and sunshine that they have brought me!

Surface Crochet Directions

Once you have knit your washcloth, use your chosen crochet hook to crochet up the purl rows on the right side of you work:

  • Insert your crochet hook into the first purl stitch gap, yarn over, and pull you CC yarn through.
  • Keeping your crochet hook in the loop, insert your hook through the next purl gap just above the last stitch you crocheted into, yarn over and pull your yarn up through the washcloth and the previous loop of your CC yarn.

Repeat step 2 until you have crocheted the last stitch at the top of your washcloth. Cut your yarn and put it completely through the loop.

Check out my youtube tutorial here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZjEAbRYOiUQ

Once you have finished all four lines of surface crochet, weave in all your ends and block your washcloth.
