Crochet St. Patrick’s Day Rainbow Wand Pattern

Hi everyone! This is Molly Uhl of Lou Loops Co. For today’s project, This St. Patrick’s Day themed rainbow wand is a great project for scrap yarn, and works up quickly. It makes for a pretty and unique centerpiece and photo prop for your St.
Patrick’s Day party.

Materials:
Clover Crochet Amour Hook in size I (5.50 mm), tapestry needle as needed, scissors, 1/8
x 12 inch unfinished wood craft rod, hot glue gun, and medium weight yarn in 5 colors of
your choice. I am using I Love This Yarn in Menthe and White, Big Twist Yarn in Forest
Green, and Red Heart Super Saver in Petal Pink and Spring Green.

Stitches:
Chain (ch), double crochet (dc), & slip stitch (ss)

This project is worked in a round.
Round 1: Chain 2, in the second chain from the hook, make 14 double crochets.

Round 2: Chain 2 (counts as a stitch and in each round going forward), dc in the same
stitch as ch2, make 2 dcs in each stitch around (you should have 28 stitches), and join.

Round 3: Chain 2, dc in the same stitch as ch2, and make 1 dc in the next stitch. *Make 2
dcs in one stitch, and 1 dc in the next*, repeating the asterisks all the way around (43),
and join.

Round 4: Chain 2, dc in the same stitch as ch2, and make 1 dc in the next 2 stitches.
*Make 2 dcs in one stitch, and 1 dc in the next 2 stitches* repeating the asterisks all the
way around (56) and join.

Round 5: Chain 2, dc in the same stitch as ch2, and make 1 dc in the next 3 stitches.
*Make 2 dcs in one stitch, and then 1 dc in the next 3 stitches* repeating the asterisk all
the way around (70) and join. **Do NOT tie off.

Fold the circle in half making a rainbow shape. Make sure the spot you left off is at the
bottom right side of the rainbow. Use your wood rod and push through the center of the
circle, and use hot glue to secure it in place. Once the glue has dried, use your hook to
slip stitch the rainbow closed. Fasten off.

Add tassels to each end of the rainbow rows by cutting 3-4 strands for each
corresponding colored row in about 12 inch increments. Insert the yarn strands into
each end of the row, pulling through and doubling up so that there are now 6-8 strands.
Tie off with a loop knot. Trim the pieces as necessary
