Lazy Daisy Canvas Shoes – Embroidery Tutorial

Hi Clover Family, It’s Danielle, the Designer and Craft Blogger behind Sprinklesofzeal!  I want to wish you and your family a happy new year! I hope that 2022 is full of peace and a bucket load of creativity.

This month, I will be sharing how to create hand-embroidered shoes using the lazy daisy embroidery stitch. Stitching on shoes can be somewhat intimidating, but this tutorial will guide you step-by-step throughout the process. I like that the lazy daisy stitch isn’t overly complicated and it can be used to upcycle clothing. So, are you ready to step into 2022 with some stylish shoes? If you are, let’s get started!

Here are the materials to create the lazy daisy shoes:

Instructions:

Step 1. There are two template methods that can be used as a lazy daisy guide. The star method consists of drawing 3, 4, 6, or 8 lines, whereas the circle method is like a freestyle template.

If you have yet to use Clover’s Water Erasable Marker, you should definitely add it to your sewing or embroidery kit.

Step 2. Thread your embroidery floss using Clover’s Embroidery Threader and be sure to knot the end of the floss.

Step 3. Remove the shoestrings to help with stitching on the inside.

Step 4. Follow the pictures closely to create the Lazy Daisy Stitch.

Start by poking a hole through the center dot from the inside of the shoe, then go back through the blue dot.

Pull the embroidery floss until you have a loop, then push the needle through on the blue line.

Pull until the loop is tight, but not too tight.

To complete the lazy daisy stitch, you will need to place the needle back through the shoe under the loop.

That’s it! Keep stitching around until you finish the flower.

Step 5. Lace-up your shoes and rock them outside!

Here are a few photos of my finished shoes. I hope this project inspires you to not only create embroidered shoes but continue learning new projects in 2022!
