Snowman Pocket Scarf Crochet Pattern

Hello! It’s Jennifer Ryan, the designer and blogger behind Celtic Knot Crochet.

I love to crochet holiday projects this time of year and am excited to share this fun Snowman Pocket Scarf with you!

This is a simple scarf to crochet using a two-row repeat for the main stitch consisting of chains and single crochet. The face details are created with easy stitches and small amounts of yarn from your stash.

Let’s get started!

Skill Level: Easy

Supplies:

1 skein medium weight acrylic yarn in red (Approximately 355 yards (324 m))

(For my scarf I used 1 skein of Hobby Lobby’s I Love This Yarn in color: Cranberry)

Small amounts of medium weight acrylic yarn in white, black, orange and pink

Amour Crochet Hook I (5.5mm) – Art. No 1048/I

Amour Crochet Hook F (3.75mm) – Art. No 1044/F

Jumbo Tapestry Needles (Bent Point) – Art. No 219

Finished Measurements:  6” wide x 60” long (15.24 cm x 152.4 cm)

Each pocket approximately 6 ½” tall (16.51 cm)

Gauge:  15 rows = 4” (10.16 cm);  18 scs = 4” (10.16 cm)

Abbreviations:

YO (yarn over)

Hk (hook)

Lp (loop)

Ch (chain)

St (stitch)

Sp (space)

Sl st (slip stitch)

Sc (single crochet)

Hdc (half double crochet)

Dc (double crochet)

Special Stitches:

Join with sc (join with single crochet):

With slip knot on hk, insert hk into st; YO, draw up a lp; YO, pull through both lps on hk

Adjustable Ring: Wrap yarn around hand to create a loop; pull working end of yarn through lp with hk; work stitches inside lp as indicated by pattern

Notes:

First the main scarf length is crocheted in red and then the white and black sections are added in the same stitch

The face details are crocheted and sewn on with yarn tails and a tapestry needle

Lastly the pockets are assembled by joining sides with sc and fringe is added at the bottom of each pocket
