Christmas Stocking Crochet Pattern!

Materials:

  • Any yarn (I used Mighty Stitch Bulky Yarn from WeCrochet)
  • Amour Crochet Hook K (6.5mm) – Art. No 1053/K
  • Jumbo Tapestry Needles (Bent Point) – Art. No 219
  • Quick Locking Stitch Markers (Medium) – Art. No 3031

Gauge:

  • This pattern doesn’t have a gauge! You can use absolutely any yarn and any hook. This makes it a great stash buster project!

Pattern Notes:

  • This pattern is written from the two up. Instructions to customize the leg length are included in pattern
  • The starting chain does not count as a stitch
  • Once the stocking is complete you will crochet the pocket as a separate piece. The pocket will then be sewn to the stocking

Colourwork:

  • This pattern uses two colours of yarn
    • CA = grey in the sample
    • CB = red in the sample

Abbreviations:

  • MC = magic circle
  • CH = chain
  • DC = double crochet
  • SC = single crochet
  • SS = slip stitch
  • ST = stitch
  • DC2TOG = double crochet two stitches together
  • DC3TGO = double crochet three stitches together
  • 2DC = place two double crochet stitches in one stitch
  • 3DC = place three double crochet stitches in one stitch

Toe

Note: the toe is made using CA

Round 1: MC, CH 2, 10DC, SS to the first ST (10 ST total)

Round 2: CH 2 and turn, 2DC in each ST, SS to the first ST (20 ST total)

Round 3: CH 2 and turn, *2DC, DC* repeat* around, SS to the first ST (30 ST total)

Round 4: CH 2 and turn, *2DC, DC, DC* repeat* around, SS to the first ST (40 ST total)

Round 5: CH 2 and turn, *2DC, DC, DC, DC* repeat* around, SS to the first ST (50 ST total)

Round 6: CH 2 and turn, DC around, SS to the first ST (60 ST total)

Break yarn and continue to the foot section

Foot

Note: the foot section is made using CB

Rounds 1-18: CH 1 and turn, SC around, SS to the first ST (60 ST total)

Drop CA yarn but do not break it, continue to the heel section 

Heel

Note: the heel section uses CA

Row 1: CH 2 and turn, DC3TOG, DC in the next 24 ST, DC3TOG

Rows 2-6: CH 2 and turn, DC3TOG, DC until 3 ST remain, DC3TOG

Rows 7-11: CH 2 and turn, 3DC, DC until one ST remains, 3DC

Row 12: CH 2 and turn, 2DC, DC until one ST remains, 2DC

Fold the heel so that rows 7-12 are on top of rows 1-6. Using a tapestry needle sew the sides of the heel together

Break CB yarn and pick up CA yarn, continue to leg section

Leg Section

Note: the leg section is made using CB

Row 1: CH 1 and turn, SC in each ST around, SS to the first ST

Repeat row 1 until you have reached your desired length, break yarn and continue to the cuff section 

Cuff

Note: the cuff section is made using CA

Rows 1-6: CH 2 and turn, DC in each ST around, SS to the first ST

Fold the cuff over the leg section, fasten off

Pocket

Note: the pocket is made using CA

FSC 18 

Rows 1-23: CH 1 and turn, SC in each ST across

Sew the pocket to the stocking using a tapestry needle 

  • Lay the stocking on a flat surface
  • Place the stocking in the exact spot you would like it to be
  • Using four stitch markers, attach the pocket to the stocking in each corner
  • Starting in one corner of the pocket, sew the pocket to the stocking

Fasten off and weave in ends! Your stocking is complete!
