Bluff Trail Mitts Crochet Pattern

Hello! This is Kathy Olivarez, the designer behind Kathy’s Crochet Closet. I’m happy to be back on the Clover Blog with a new crochet project: the Bluff Trail Mitts!

The Bluff Trail Mitts are cozy handwarmers that are perfect for texting and typing. They allow your fingers to move freely while keeping your hands and wrists warm. If you are looking for a last-minute gift, you will be able to make these in a hurry!  The mitts are a perfect match to the Bluff Trail Beanie, featured here on the Clover Blog in November, and the two projects would make a beautiful set!

The yarn I used for this project is Loops & Threads Cozy Wool, a super bulky weight yarn that comes in lots of beautiful colors. The hook is my favorite Clover Amour hook in the size M/N 9mm.  This hook feels so comfortable in your hand and works beautifully with chunky yarn.  The finished mitts will measure approximately 7 inches from top to bottom and should fit a medium/large woman’s hand.

Let’s get started!

Mitts Instructions

Make two.

Foundation Chain: Ch 16. Join ends of chain as follows:

Remove the hook from the working loop.

Re-insert hook into the working loop from the back.

Insert hook into the first back ridge loop at the starting end of the chain. Make sure the chain isn’t twisted.

Pull the loop through. (Don’t yarn over.)

Pull gently on the working end of the yarn, making the yarn snug around the new working loop.
