Skeleton Cup Cozy

This cozy fits a standard 20 ounce cup and adds a perfect festive touch to a pumpkin spice latte from your favorite coffee shop!

Materials:

  • Crochet Amour Hooks size I (5.50 mm) – Art. No 1048/I
  • Crochet Amour Hooks size F (3.75mm) – Art. No 1044/F
  • Jumbo Tapestry needle – Art. No 219
  • Scissors
  • Medium weight yarn in white and black for the skeleton, and whichever color(s) you want for the cozy!

Stitches:

Chain (ch)

Single crochet (sc)

Half double crochet (hdc)

Double crochet (dc)

Triple crochet (tc)

Slip stitch (ss)

Cozy

Using your I hook chain 31.

Row 1 Half double crochet in the second chain from the hook, and in the next 29 stitches. Chain 1 and turn.

Rows 2-8 Hdc in each st across, ch 1, and turn.

Row 9 Hdc in each st across, and tie off leaving a long yarn tail.

Fold the cozy in half (width-wise), line up the edges, and sew up the side. Weave in your ends, and turn the cozy inside out, so that the seam is on the inside.

Skeleton

For the head, use your I hook, white yarn, and work in a round:

Round 1 Dc 12, and join.

Round 2 Ch 2 and dc in the same stitch. Make 2 dcs in the next 2 stitches, 1 dc and 1 tc in the next stitch, 2 tcs in the next, 1 tc and 1 dc in the next, 2 dc, 1 dc and 1 tc, 2 tcs, 1 tc and 1 dc, 2 dcs in the next 2 stitches, and join, leaving a long yarn tail for sewing.

For the eyes use your F hook, and black yarn:
Single crochet 6 in a round. Join, and leave a tail for sewing. Repeat the steps to make two.

Sew the eyes onto the head, and then using black yarn, sew on a nose and a mouth. Finally, sew the head onto the front of the cozy, making sure the seam is on the back side
