Easy Dreamy Cuddle Blanket
Hi there! I’m back today with a super easy make that will be your new go to gift for baby showers, newlyweds and anyone else you want to wrap in a Cuddle hug. And the best part is that you can make these in under an hour! If you have never worked with Cuddle fabrics, this is the perfect way to try them out and get used to working with them on your sewing machine. Besides being luxuriously soft to cuddle under, these fabrics are also very forgiving if you make any mistakes. My very first sewing project was Cuddle blankets that my boys still use 8 years later, if I could do it then you absolutely can too!
What you will need:
- Shannon Cuddle® Fabric 2 yards (baby size) or two 2 yard cuts (throw size)
- Clover Wonder clips – Art. no 3185
- Scissors
- Thread
- Sewing machine (use a walking foot for ease of sewing)
Step One: Fold two yards of Cuddle fabric in half using scissors to trim both pieces to 48 x 36. Place right sides together lining up edges and hold in place with Wonder clips spaced every 2-4 inches apart, leaving an 8 inch gap in one end for turning right sides out.
Step Two: Using your walking foot and a 2.5-3.5 stitch length sew around edges with a generous 1/2 inch seam allowance, making sure to leave an opening for turning. When finished sewing, turn right sides out and push corners out with your finger or a turning tool.
Step Three: Use Wonder clips to hold the opening closed and top stitch around the edges using a 1/2 inch seam allowance.
Step Four: To make a gorgeous throw size Cuddle blanket, use two 2 yard cuts of coordinating fabrics and follow the same instructions as the baby blanket. Your finished throw will be 60×68, perfect for keeping on your favorite chair or at the end of your bed for cold nights.
Fabrics used are from Shannon Fabrics new line called Luxe Cuddle Dazzle, this line has a variety of beautiful colors with a hint of silver sparkle in them.
