    Friday Finds – Knitted I-Cords

One of the simplest ways to teach knitting is to start with a knitted tube of yarn or i-cord. The i-cord was originally created by the late Elizabeth Zimmerman, knitting pioneer, who called it the idiot cord because anyone can knit one or i-cord for short. It really is quite an ingenious and very versatile piece of knitting. You’ll see i-cords used as ties and finished edges on knit garments; as belts and bag handles; with beads knit in as jewelry; and as decorative elements on home dec projects.  You can create an i-cord…

Watch Us Wednesday – Wonder Knitter Video

Today we have a video demonstration of our Wonder Knitter to share with you. The video is a few years old, but it definitely hits all the high notes of how the tool works.  The main difference between the Wonder Knitter and French Knitter is that the head of the Wonder Knitter turns and the knitter is a bit larger in size, so it’s easier for those just learning to knit.

Friday Finds – Yo-Yo Maker Inspiration

The fabric yo-yo had humble beginnings as a way to turn scrap fabric into beautiful embellishments with a bit of hand stitching.  It’s been translated into so much more over the years.  You’ll now see them stuffed and turned into beads in jewelry or stacked together to create trees and all sorts of critters.  You’ll also see the fabrics used have expanded from cotton and calicos to include silk, wool, velvet, and chiffon.  Clover has a line of reusable templates that snap together with stitching guides to make the process…

Our friend Nancy Zieman created the most adorable tutorial to make a chalkboard roll up for the little people in our lives. We love how she uses Clover Wonder Clips to hold the binding in place for stitching. Here’s a link to the full tutorial. Just imagine how great this would be to take along on vacation to keep little hands busy during travel time. Thanks for sharing your creative ideas with us Nancy.
