DIY Heart Bucket Hat -Punch Needle Tutorial
Valentine’s Day is here and that means appreciation is in the air! I hope that you’re able to spend time expressing love and giving extra hugs to the people that matter the most to you.
This week on Clover’s blog, I will be sharing how to create a heart bucket hat that can be gifted to a loved one, donated, or added to your hat collection! The hat is not only trendy, but it’s handmade and that alone makes it extra special. Clover’s embroidery stitching tool really made this hat come to life and I can’t wait to share the details with you. Are you ready to get stitching? Alright, let’s gather the materials!
Here are the materials you’ll need to create this custom bucket hat:
- Clover Embroidery StitchingTool Art No. 8800
- Clover Embroidery Hoop (S) 4-3/4″ Art No. 8813
- Clover Embroidery Needle Refill (6-ply) Art No. 8803
- Clover Water Erasable Marker -Fine Art No.515
- Clover Bordeaux Ultimate Scissors 130 Art No. 4940
- Embroidery Floss (Red or Pink)
- Denim or Thick Cotton Bucket Hat
- Adhesive or Iron-On
Instructions:
Step 1. Start by turning the bucket hat inside out and folding it in half to find the center.
Step 2. Create a dot in the centerfold using Clover’s Water Erasable Marker.
Step 3. Draw a 2-inch heart using the dot as a guide.
Step 4. Use the threader to thread the embroidery floss into the 6-ply size needle.
Step 5. Attach Clover’s Embroidery Hoop over the heart, then begin following the outline of the heart.
Quick tip: It’s very important to keep the embroidery stitching tool close to the fabric. You don’t want to lose any loops on the right side of the hat!
Step 6. Continue stitching around the heart until it’s complete. You may have to fill in some areas, but it’s standard to work over the first stitches to close up any gaps.
Step 7. Once the heart has been fully stitched, trim the embroidery floss tails, then apply an adhesive or iron on to seal the stitches.
Yay! The bucket hat is complete! I hope you have a wonderful valentine’s day time and gift this hat to that special someone in your life.
