Lynn’s Sunshine Wall Hanging
Hi everybody! My name is Sarah, and I’m the maker behind Sarah’s Yarn. By day I work in the corporate world, but I unwind by playing with yarn. You’ll find both knit and crochet items on my page, but almost all of my maker tools for both come from Clover, and I am thrilled to team up with my friends there to bring you a pattern for this wall hanging.
My favorite projects are those that brighten up your home, and I love when I am able to bring in family memories. When I drew up this pattern, I envisioned sending it as a baby shower gift, but when my husband saw it, his response was “it reminds me of Grandma.” With that, the hanging was clearly never leaving our house, and its name was set: Lynn’s Sunshine Wall Hanging.
With that said, let’s dive into the pattern. This is an advanced-beginner project due to the color changes, but if you’ve done any tapestry crochet before, you’ll have this finished in no time! If you share them on Instagram, please tag me with @SarahsYarn, #sarahsyarn, or #LynnsSunshine.
If you prefer to work from a graph rather than a written pattern, you can find an inexpensive PDF in my Etsy and Ravelry stores.
Lynn’s Sunshine Wall Hanging
Materials:
- Main color worsted weight yarn
- Accent Color 1 worsted weight (I used yellow)
- Accent Color 2 worsted weight (I used white)
- Amour Crochet Hook H (5.0mm) – Art No. 1047/H
- Needle for weaving in ends
- Stick or dowel at least 16.5” across
Stitches:
- FSC – Foundation Single Crochet
- SC – Single Crochet
- Ch – Chain
- MC – Main Color
- AC – Accent Color
Gauge: 19 st x 17 rows (carrying yarn) = 4” square
Finished Dimension: 16” wide x 12“ tall
Note:
- Odd rows will be the front (right side) of your work, even rows will be the back (wrong side).
- When carrying your accent colors up a row, make sure to carry them on the wrong side of your work.
- When switching colors, change yarn in the last pull through of previous stitch.
- I find color changes are smoother if you change your yarn by yarning over while working across the right side and yarning under when working across the back (color changes only – all other stitches yarn over as usual).
- I did not carry my accent colors in rows 1-4, 10-12, 26-28, 42-44, or 50-53.
- Accent yarn in rows 5-9 and 45-49 will be Accent Color 1, while accent yarn in rows 13-25and 29 – 41 is Accent Color 2.
- All stitches except row 1 are single crochet. Rows are written as MC X, AC X, where MC andAC indicate the color yarn you will use, and X is the number of single crochet stitches in that color.
- If you find any errors in the pattern, please email me at sarahsyarn@gmail.com or shoot me aDM on Instagram.Patter Direction:

Assembly:
Using a loooooooong piece of yarn and your tapestry needle, attach a stick or dowel to the top row of your hanging. I used a stick for a more rustic look.
Cut a long piece of each of your colors and tie to one end of your stick. Braid the three colors together and tie to the other end of your stick. This will be the hanging string.
Weave in your ends, and you’re all done! I hope you enjoyed making Lynn’s Sunshine Wall Hanging as much as I did! If you make one, tag it with #sarahsyarn and #LynnsSunshine on Instagram so that I can see your version!
