Valentine’s Day Fabric Flower Bouquets <3

Hi! I’m Amy Barickman, the author of the book Fabric Flowers, and I am so excited to share some of my ideas to make your own Yo-Yo Flower Bouquets! Everyone loves flowers, why not create a handmade gift of fabric flowers?! It’s almost Valentine’s Day, which means it’s the perfect time for a heartfelt gift to celebrate the ones you love most. Using your favorite fabric scraps and buttons, these adorable little flowers are easy to create and can be transformed into a beautiful arrangement that will last much longer than traditional flowers.

To create the yo-yo flowers, you can use Clover’s Quick Yo-Yo Maker tools! Clover offers sizes ranging from extra small to jumbo! You’ll need just a few simple materials, so gather them up and let your creativity bloom!

MATERIALS:

  • Quick Yo-Yo Maker (in desired size)
  • 4–6 coordinating cotton fabrics
    • use size guidelines in your Clover Yo-Yo Maker directions
  • Buttons (1–2 per flower)
  • Chenille pipe cleaners 12″ long (2 per flower)
  • Green floral tape
  • Several 1-2″ fabric leaves (1-2 leaves per flower)
  • Needle and thread
  • Hot Glue Gun (optional)

The flower yo-yos are easy to make and really fun to embellish…just follow the directions on your Clover Quick Yo-Yo Maker! Here are a few ideas to get you started:

  • Mix and match your fabric patterns to layer and create unique floral combinations.
    • try using two or three yo-yos of different sizes!
  • Use buttons to give a contrasting center to your flower.
    • use one large button or layer two together for more flair

Want more floral techniques? In my book Fabric Flowers (comes in a downloadable PDF or a print version linked below), I show you how to craft 25 different types of fabric flowers! Many feature Clover’s Flower Making Tools and Notions. Click HERE for a video preview of flowers included in the book!
