PATTERN

FLOWER COASTER (begin in MC)

Round 1: 16 dc in MR, slst to first st (fig. A) (16 sts)

Round 2: inc x16, slst to first st (32 sts)
Round 3: (sc, inc) x16, slst to first st (fig. B) (48 sts) Switch to CC1.

Round 4: Chain 2 (fig. C), work 2 dcs into the same stitch, but do not work the final step on both, so that there are three loops left on your hook (fig. D). Yarn over and pull through all three loops. This is a partial cluster stitch. Chain 2 (fig. E). Skip two stitches.

*Work a cluster stitch: Work 3 dcs in the next stitch, but omit the last “yo and pull through” step on each. You should have 4 loops remaining on your hook (fig. F). Yarn over and pull through all 4 loops. Chain 2 and skip the next two stitches (fig. G).

Repeat from * 14 more times until you have 16 cluster stitches (fig. H). Slst to the first stitch.

Switch to CC2.

Round 5: Chain 2, work 7 dc in the next chain space, slst to the next chain space. This is your initial shell stitch (fig. I).

Work 8 dc in the next chain space, slst in the next chain space. This is one shell stitch. Repeat shell stitches all around until you have 8 total shell stitches (fig. J).

Invisible finish off and weave in your ends.
