Falling Leaves Headband Crochet Pattern

Materials:

  • 70 yards Category 4 yarn
  • Lion Brand Yarns Heartland (color Mount Rainier)
  • Scissors

Difficulty level: intermediate    

Size: 23” x 3.5”  Gauge: 14 sts x 8 rows of 4” x 4 ” of dc sts

Instructions:

Ch 15.

Round 1: (WS) sc in 2nd stitch from the hook, sc across. TURN. (14 ).

Round 2: (RS) ch 2 (counts as a st), dc across. TURN. (14).

Round 3: (WS) ch 1, sc across. TURN. (14)

Round 4: (RS) ch 2, dc in next st, dcfptctog (dc in first st, sk 2 dc sts from previous row and tc around next dc post from previous dc row together), dc in 3 sts (2 of which were skipped), dcfptctog (dc in next st and tc around the same post we just worked a previous dcfptctog together), dcfptctog (dc in first st, sk 4 dc sts from previous row and tc around next dc post from previous dc row together), dc in 3 sts, dcfptctog (dc in next st and tc around the same post we just worked a previous dcfptctog together), dc in last 2 sts. TURN. (You will have 2 V-s worked).

Round 5-20: repeat rows 3 and 4 till the headband measures about 23”. Cut the yarn and leave the tail for sewing, about 8”.

 

Finishing: 

Lay the headband flat RS facing up. Fold the headband in half, place the ends one into another as if “hugging” each other, both ends form sort of a “C” shape. You will have 4 “layers” in your hands – sew them together stitching through each stitch in each layer. You won’t be able to see this seam – it will be hidden inside once you turn the headband right side out. Weave in the ends.
