Notes:

  • This pattern is written in American Standard Terms.
  • Each sc row is worked on the wrong side (WS).
  • The pattern is worked in multiples of 5 sts. To change the width add or remove multiples of 5 sts in your beginning chain.
  • Ch 2 in the beginning of row counts as a stitch.
  • Ch 1 in the beginning of row doesn’t count as a stitch.
  • Make sure to work sc in top of ch 2 in sc rows – it’s easy to miss it.

Round 4: (RS) ch 2, dc in next st, dcfptctog (dc in first st, sk 2 dc sts from previous row and tc around next dc post from previous dc row together), dc in 3 sts (2 of which were skipped), dcfptctog (dc in next st and tc around the same post we just worked a previous dcfptctog together), dcfptctog (dc in first st, sk 4 dc sts from previous row and tc around next dc post from previous dc row together), dc in 3 sts, dcfptctog (dc in next st and tc around the same post we just worked a previous dcfptctog together), dc in last 2 sts. TURN. (You will have 2 V-s worked).

Round 5-20: repeat rows 3 and 4 till the headband measures about 23”. Cut the yarn and leave the tail for sewing, about 8”.

Finishing:

Lay the headband flat RS facing up. Fold the headband in half, place the ends one into another as if “hugging” each other, both ends form sort of a “C” shape. You will have 4 “layers” in your hands – sew them together stitching through each stitch in each layer. You won’t be able to see this seam – it will be hidden inside once you turn the headband right side out. Weave in the ends.
