Towel (orange, white)

This towel will be worked using the moss stitch. I love using this stitch for towels and wash cloths. The fox face will be worked in single crochets. I will explain how to do the moss stitch below but if you need further guidance on this stitch, there are some great tutorials on YouTube.

     Starting in orange.

  1. Loosely ch 26
  2. Sc in the second ch from the hook, ch 1, skip a ch space and sc into the next ch space. Repeat until the end of the row, ch 1 and turn.
  3. sc into the first ch space from the row below, ch 1, skip a ch space and sc into the next ch space. Repeat until the end of the row. The last sc will be worked into the turning ch from the row below, ch 1 and turn.
  4. Repeat row 3 until the towel is 11 inches long.
  5. Color change to white and repeat row 3 until the towel is 15 inches long.
  6. Color change back to orange. At this point you will stop using the moss stitch and switch to single crochets. (You will sc into the top of the sc from the row below then, sc into the ch space from the row below.)

  23. sc 1, ch 2, skip 1, sc 1 (this will form the buttonhole)
  24. sc around the entire towel, placing 2 sc into the bottom corners.

Final assembly: Now it’s time to add the eyes, ears, and button to the towel.  First, add the button nose. Use a scrap of black yarn and a smaller yarn needle to attach the button at the center of the first row of white.

Next, place the safety eyes in-between rows 16 and 17, 4 stitches apart. Feel free to embroider the eyes on if you prefer.

Lastly, the ears will be sewn evenly to approximately the 3rd row of orange on the fox face.  You can fold the fox face down and attach the button threw the buttonhole to make sure the ears will be on the top of the towel when hung. Weave in the tails
