Sea Waves Tee KAL Week 1!

Welcome to week one of the Sea Waves KAL! 

For the next five weeks we will be making the Sea Waves Tee. I’m beyond excited  about this pattern and can’t wait to share it with you! The Sea Waves Tee is available in sizes XS-5XL, includes optional bustline shaping and instructions to customize the length. You also have the option to complete the lace as an applied boarder or a separate piece which is sewn onto the bottom of the make.  Therefore, you can make this pattern fit you perfectly!

Materials:

  • DK Weight Yarn (any DK weight that meets gauge will work! I used Mountains of Yarn DK in Deep Seas.
  • Interchangeable Knitting Needles No. 7 – Art.  No 3637 (I recommend interchangeable needles, its way easier to switch to longer cords! You will need sizes 16in-36in cords)
  • Clover Tapestry Needle (to weave in ends) – Art. No 3113
  • Quick Locking Stitch Marker Set – Art. No 3033
  • Knitting Counter (optional, but really helpful for keeping track of what row you’re on!)Art. No 336

Abbreviations:

CO = Cast On

K = knit

P = purl

Pattern Notes:

  • This pattern is worked continuously in the round, until the lace section (specific details regarding the lace section will be provided on week 5
  • This pattern is made as a top down pattern, with increases in the yoke
  • This pattern is written as XS (S, M, L, XL) (2XL, 3XL, 4XL, 5XL)

Sizing Guidelines (based on bust size)

XS: 28-30 in

S: 32-34in

M: 36-38in

L: 40-42in

XL: 44-46in

2XL: 48-50in

3XL: 52-54in

4XL: 56-58in

5XL 60-62in

Yardage: 

XS: 500 yards

S: 625 yards

M: 750 yards

L: 875 yards

XL: 1000 yards

2XL: 1125 yards

3XL: 1250 yards

4XL: 1375 yards

5XL: 1500 yards

NOTE: this yardage is approximate and will vary based on the length of your make!

Lets get started! For week 1 we will be focusing on the swatch, casting on and the neckline ribbing.

Swatch:

20 ST and 26 rows = 4 inches by 4 inches

The swatch is done in stockinette stitch. Remember to block your swatch if you plan to block your final make!

Casting On/Neckline Ribbing:

Using 16in cords (or longer if you’re using the magic loop method) cast on140 (140, 150, 150, 150) (160, 160, 160, 170) ST

Rows 1-5 K2, P1 around
