The Granny Table Runner

Hello Friends! It’s Dani, the designer, and blogger behind Danii’s Ways & CJ Design

I’m so happy to be back on to the Clover Blog. This time I have a super fun home decor project for you…

New week, new pattern, and tutorial. We continue in the Home Decor line.

This week’s project is one of my all-time favorites! I don’t know about you, but I love having crochet pieces all around my house.

It is a nice reminder of what I love to do. Not just that but I love making useful things.

Pieces that I can use on a daily basis, that I can throw in the wash and have them brand new again. For example, the Cottage Mug Rug. Super useful and an easy pattern that we crocheted last week over on my blog.

If you haven’t seen that tutorial I will leave the link here so you can go check it out.

This design is as beautiful as it is simple! As you can see, this table runner has 2 beautiful triangles on each side, which makes the drip on each side that much more attractive.

I have called this project The Granny Table Runner for the simple reason that it’s made with the Granny Stitch (also known as the stitch for Granny Squares).

In the picture above, you can see now that both sides are different. Depending on how many stitches you use, this project will have asymmetrical sides. Which makes it so unique and beautiful. I only crocheted 38 stitches, that’s why mine is asymmetrical.

Now let’s talk about the difficulties of this pattern.

I have categorized it as a Beginner/easy pattern. You only need to know the very basics of crochet in order to make this table runner. Maybe you wouldn’t think so because it looks difficult, but it really isn’t!

After you are done with the first row, which is your set up row, you only have to repeat row 2 over and over again, until you have reached the desired length. It’s that simple!

Now, the good thing about this project is that is also very simple to customize. Depending on the size of your table, you can make it wider and longer.

Mine was made for my coffee table so it’s not as long as one for a dining table.

Another good thing is that it is a very quick project. You can finish in one afternoon (again, this will depend on the length).
