Fringe Picture Frame

Picture frames are one of the greatest ways to show off your family memories. I love how they help to keep our memories alive as the years roll past.

Hey Clover Family, it’s Danielle from sprinklesofzeal and today I want to share how to create a fringe picture frame. This project will help you bring some fun and color to any room in your home, especially the kid’s room. Alright, let’s gather the supplies!

Supplies:

  • Clover “Quick Cut” Thread Cutter Art No. 7490
  • Clover Bordeaux Ultimate Shears 200 Art No. 4942
  • Clover Wonder Clips “Variety Pack” Art No. 3190
  • Colorful Fine Yarn
  • Small Hot Glue Gun
  • Picture Frame

Directions:

Step 1. Prep the Yarn Fringe

Today, I will be using the “Quick Cut” Thread Cutter to create the yarn fringe. The Thread Cutter is a new tool from Clover and it’s a must-have in your craft room. There is a rotary blade housed inside that cuts yarn, thread, and string. I recently tested it a step further and learned that it can cut super fine yarn, which is used for sock making to bulky yarn for punch needle embroidery. Now that’s super cool to me!

Here’s how I used this new tool with yarn,

Grab your fine yarn and pull it towards the blade.

Apply pressure to cut the yarn.

Keep pulling and cutting until you have the amount of fringe that you want.

You can also turn the thread cutter to the side and cut the yarn with two hands.

If your blade gets a little dull, adjust the knob to #2. The dial can be moved up to 12 positions before it needs to be replaced.

This picture frame will be very colorful because the yarn yielded 6 different colors! Ok, let’s move on to the next step.

Step 2. Add the Hot Glue

Grab your glue gun and begin adding the glue down the frame. Be sure to work fast because hot glue will cure quickly.

Step 3. Apply the Yarn Fringe

Mix up the colors and add the yarn to the picture frame.

Some yarn pieces may need to be clipped down with the wonder clips. Wait until the hot glue has dried, then use the clips to mold the yarn into a specific direction. If you have some stray yarn pieces that don’t catch the glue, slightly pull them away then reapply.

Turn the picture frame and continue gluing. Don’t worry if you still see the picture frame, this is only the first layer.

Complete the first layer, then add one more layer of yarn.

Here’s how the frame looks with the second layer of yarn.

Step 4. Trim

Take the Bordeaux Shears and trim the center of the frame.

Wow, look at the reveal!

Finish up the frame by trimming the outside.

Tada! The frame is complete,

Step 5. Insert your Photo

Turn the picture frame around to insert the photo.

I added a photo from our trip to Disney Hollywood Studios in 2018.

This picture memory has been added to our son Elias’s room with some fun robot frames.
