Hi Friends! It’s Dani, the designer, and blogger behind Danii’s Ways & CJ Design
Every once in awhile I like to make things that I’m not used to and it feels so so good!
That’s why today’s tutorial is this beautiful wall hanging.
Ever since we finished our son’s nursery I knew something was missing. I knew I wanted to make something special just for him to hang on the wall and I think this Tassel/Macramé wall hanging matches perfectly with his room!
I love everything about this wall hanging, especially because it is SO EASY and quick to make!
It is a super versatile project, you can make it as big or small as you’d like, you can change the colors, the size of the tassels, pretty much everything is customizable.
Here is the list of materials I used to make this Boho Wall Hanging
Materials:
- Yarn: Any cotton yarn would work
- Tassel Maker (Large) – Art. No 9941
- Mini Patchwork Scissors – Art. No 493/CW
- Tapestry Needle Set (Bent Tip) – Art. No 3121
- Wooden Beads
- Wooden Dowel
- Comb

Written Instructions:
In order to make this wall hanging there are a few things you need to know how to make and I think it will be easier for you to watch the video but I will try my best to explain the step by step!
Step 1: First you need to cut your dowel (depending on how long you want it to be. Mine measures 19″)
Step 2: Then you have to decide the amount of tassels you want (I made 11). Make sure to have an odd number of tassels in order to get that pointy look.
Step 3: Once you have decided the amount of tassels, make them all, decorate them with the wooden beads and use your comb to fluff them up.
Step 4: Now lay your dowel and the tassels on a flat surface and arrange them however you want them to be.
Step 5: Once you have them how you like, make a knot in the top of each tassel to attach them later and make sure they are the length that you want.
Step 6: Now you can attach them to you dowel (in the video I showed you how I did it). Make sure the knot is in the back of your dowel. If you don’t want them to move, you can always use glue to secure them on your dowel.
Step 7: Next we have to make the macramé detail/string that I hang in mine (here you have to watch the video to learn how to make it). Remember that in order to have enough thread/yarn to make the knots you need to cut your yarn 6 times longer than the length that you want it to be, (PER SIDE, so 12 times longer in total).
Step 8: Once your macramé “string” is done, all you have to do is attach it to your wall hanging and you are all DONE!
I hope you guys have enjoyed this DIY, if so, please don’t forget to share this post and video with your friends and you can also tag me on Instagram and use the hashtag #BOHOWallhanging #CJDESIGN #CloverUSA so we can all see your beautiful creations!
Happy Macramé! ~ Dani <3
