Hello friends! I’m Deni, the designer behind DeniMade. I am a crochet designer from NYC and I am so excited to be on the blog!
If you are looking for a crochet project that is super quick, easy, and also functional, the Meadow Drink Cozy pattern is a perfect fit and only takes about 35 minutes to make. Not only do cozies help protect your hands from the cold but they also help keep your drink cold longer!
They make great last minute gifts and are perfect for market prep! I’m going to share the pattern with you… just in time for spring! So, let’s grab our materials and get started.
MATERIALS
- Approx. 50 yards of Bulky Yarn (I used Bernat Maker Home Dec)
- Amour 5.5 mm hook – Art. No 1048/I
- Mini Patchwork Scissors – Art. No 493/CW
- Tapestry Needle Set – Bent Tip – Art. No 3121
- Quick Locking Stitch Markers – Art. No 3033
- Swatch Ruler and Needle Gauge – Art. No 3200
GAUGE
There is no gauge for this pattern. To make sure your cozy turns out the correct size, your circle should measure approximately 3” by the end of row 3.
ABBREVIATIONS
- CH – chain
- SC – single crochet
- DC – double crochet
- BLSC – back loop single crochet
- RS – right side
- ST(s) – stitch(s)
NOTES
- Pattern is written in standard US terms.
- CH 1 does not count as a stitch throughout pattern.
- If your circle is larger than mentioned at the end of round 3, try going down a hook size. You may continue with a larger circle, but be aware that your cozy will turn out larger so the yardage will be different.
DRINK COZY PATTERN
Size: 4.5” W x 5” L (with built-in coaster)
To Begin: Make a MC; CH 1 (does not count as a stitch).
Round 1: 12 DC into MC. Join with a SL ST to top of first DC. (12)
Round 2: CH 1, 2 DC in same space as CH 1. 2 DC in each ST around. Join with a SL ST. (24)
Round 3: CH 1, *1 BLSC in the next 3 ST, 2 BLSC in the next ST*. Repeat from * to * around. Join with a SL ST. (30)
[————— Your base should measure 3” across at this point. —————]
* We will be working in the round joining and turning after every round.
* Since we are turning after each round, the space directly after the CH 1 is the SL ST from the previous row. DO NOT work into the SL ST; instead, make sure you work into the space directly before the CH 1 at the end of the round.
Tip: Place stitch marker in the last stitch of the row before you join. Once you join place a stitch marker into the same stitch as the join, then CH 1 and turn, this will alleviate any confusion as to where your first and last stitches should go.
Round 4: (RS) CH 1, SC in same ST, * DC in next ST, SC in next ST. * Repeat from * to * to last ST, DC in the last ST. Join with a SL ST. Turn. (15 SC + 15 DC= 30)
Round 5: Repeat row 4. (30)
Round 6: (RS) CH 1, SC in same ST, * DC in next ST, SC in next ST. * Repeat from * to * to end. Join with a SL ST. (15 SC + 15 DC= 30)
* We will be using the SL ST to move between ST(s) as needed without adding any height to the rows.
* Use a stitch marker to mark the first stitch of each row.
Round 7: (RS) CH 1, SC in the same ST and in the next 2 ST(s), *CH 5, skip 2 ST(s), SC in the next 3 ST(s)* Repeat from * to * until you have 3 ST(s) left. CH 5, skip 2 ST(s). Join with a SL ST.
Round 8: CH 1, SC in the next ST, skip next ST, *5 SC into the CH-5 space, skip next ST, SC into the next ST, skip the next ST* Repeat from * to * last CH-5 space, 5 SC into the CH-5 space. Join with SL ST.
Round 9: CH 1, SL ST in the next ST. SC into the next 3 ST(s), *CH 5, skip 3 ST(s), SC in the next 3 ST(s)* Repeat from * to * around. CH 5 and join with SL ST to first SC.
Rounds 10 – 12: Alternate rounds 8 & 9.
Round 13: CH 1, SL ST in the next ST, SC into the next 3 ST(s), *CH 3, skip 3 ST(s), SC in the next 3 ST(s)* Repeat from * to * around. CH 3 and join with SL ST to first SC.
Round 14: CH 1, SC in the same ST and in next 2 ST(s). *3 SC into the CH-3 space, SC into the next 3 ST(s)* Repeat from * to * around. CH 3 and join with SL ST to first SC. (36)
* We will be working in the round joining and turning after each round for this section.
* Since we are turning after each round, the space directly after the CH 1 is the SL ST from the previous row. DO NOT work into the SL ST; instead, make sure you work into the space directly before the CH 1 at the end of the round.
Round 15: (RS) CH 1, SC in same ST, * DC in next ST, SC in next ST. * Repeat from * to * to last ST, DC in the last ST. Join with a SL ST. Turn. (18 SC + 18 DC= 36)
Round 16: Repeat row 15. (36)
Round 17: (RS) CH 1, SC in the same ST and in each ST around. Join with SL ST. (36)
* Fasten off and weave in your ends.
