We originally published Tool School: Ultimate Quilt ‘n Stitch Presser Foot but have received frequent questions about what sewing machines the presser foot is compatible with. So here is some more information!
What is it?
Okay, who has too much time on their hands? We find it’s a challenge every day for us to figure out what we’re going to do with ourselves. Plenty of time on our hands and nothing to do.
Well that’s not much of a showing. How about this, who thinks that quilting parallel lines of stitches is just too easy, not really a challenge? You know, row after row of tiny stitches just seem to automatically find their way to exactly the right spot on our quilts with perfectly even spacing between them and without any real effort from us. Wow, even less. Okay, you can put your hands down now. Both of you. Our scientific survey reveals two things.
First, most of us are really busy with a full schedule in front of us every single day. The limited time that we can allocate to our love of sewing is indeed very precious. We need to make the most of every minute.
Second, most of us do not have those magic stitches that just see the solution to our creative vision and intuitively insert themselves where we would want them to be. Sorry, not even in fairy tales does that happen. It’s up to us to place all of those stitches exactly where needed.
Do it well and everyone is happy. Don’t do it well and, well, not so much. So what do we need? Simply put, we need a tool that takes all of the tedium out of laying out our designs. Something that makes line after line of parallel stitching effortless and fast. And more importantly, that tool has to enable our creative potential. Something that allows us to do the previously unimaginable.

What does it do?
The Ultimate Quilt ‘n Stitch Presser Foot was designed to save us time and allow us to create perfect parallel stitching with ease and precision.
In addition to straight lines, it is equally adept at either inside or outside curves or even circles. We can even change the spacing between subsequent lines of stitching. It’s easy and perfect every time.
It turns creative potential into reality. Kind of gets those creative juices going, doesn’t it? Now we can apply quilting or decorative top stitching with reckless abandon. And it will be perfect every time. Here are some of the features:
- The leading edge of the Quilt ‘n Stitch Presser Foot is set to measure a perfect 1/4 inch seam allowance. The rear section of the presser foot is wide enough to cover the feed dogs, resulting in smooth, even movement of our fabric for even stitch length.
- The Quilt ‘n Stitch Presser Foot has an integrated ruler with an alignment guide on the end. By simply pressing the set button, the guide can be moved in 1/8 inch increments from 3/8 inch all the way to 3 inches. Releasing the button locks the guide securely into place.
- The presser foot is constructed of a glossy finish polycarbonate material that is both durable and extremely smooth which enables it to glide easily across our fabric. No friction induced fabric puckering.
- The Ultimate Quilt ‘n Stitch Presser Foot is designed to accommodate low shank sewing machines. Quick note, on Pfaff sewing machines, we’ll need to disengage the walking foot before we can attach it. For Bernina and Janome sewing machines there are long shank adaptors readily available. The “Ultimate” works on virtually all major brands of domestic sewing machines.
How do I share it?
Samples sell. Display some quilted samples of parallel stitching. Straight lines, curves, circles, crosshatching. All the designs people wish they could do. Put it on quilts, fashion, and home decor projects.
Then demonstrate how it’s done with the Ultimate Quilt ‘n Stitch Presser Foot. Your friends will immediately realize the creative potential now available to them. It’s an application that’s just too cool and applies across the spectrum of quilting, home decor and fashion.
