Sew Expo Puyallup, Washington
The Clover team is in Washington state working the largest sewing-stitchery show in the U.S. It is set in the fair grounds in Puyallup, and the weather has gotten excited about the 30,000 expected attendees by giving us little samples of snow, rain, winds and a wee bit of sunshine … BUT … “the mountain”, Mt Rainier, has not shown itself . It can be shy, but when it decides to come out it is breath-taking! Thursday was the first day and we were excited to meet the talented people coming…

Last Days in Paradise
Ok, this is it. One final thought before heading home. It’s been a wonderful, relaxing vacation, but I do miss my stash of fabric and yarns back home! Plus, it’s time to get back to work. There’s so much going on with Clover I can’t wait to hit the ground running with all the renewed energy this trip has provided me! But it’s just so hard to think about packing (not my favorite thing to do) and returning to snow and cold temps. I just hope that doesn’t throw me into a…

Rainy Day Blues
Hi everyone. Things got a little hectic and we didn’t get the last of the vacation blog entries posted last week, so we’re going to get you caught up right now! It DOES rain in paradise … man does it rain! But what a blessing as I sit on the balcony enjoying the cooler temps and the sound of the rain hitting the roof and falling from the trees. Iguanas don’t seem to mind the rain but I am noticing there is an attitude of “testy” in the trees. It…

Worry-free in Paradise
I think I may have reached the state of relaxation and “no worry” because I can’t tell you without doing some math what day of vacation it is. I can tell you I could and would live down here if only I could win the lottery … gotta buy a ticket, I guess. It’s turned hot … well warmer than the past week as it rarely gets over 85-degrees. The pool has been wonderful and I have to admit we have been here over a week and a half and haven’t…

Crafting in the Caribbean, St. Croix (Day 6)
Another Day in Paradise! Oh how I wish I could “beam you all” to the island to sit on the beach and do handwork with me! I was sitting under a sea grape tree working on my applique when a lady approached and asked to see what I was working on. I invited her to sit and talk – she is expecting her first grandchild and was talking about the shower the relatives were giving the new mom-to-be. They were having a little trouble coming up with decorations and I mentioned…

Crafting in the Caribbean, St. Croix (Day 4)
I have good news! It seems Iggy the Iguana did not follow the bright light to Iguana heaven but was in an Iguana coma healing himself from the fall. Good thing I cautioned John to make sure we didn’t smush him with the car. Iggy is off in the bushes slowly making his way back to the tree. I don’t know if the male Iguana display was a territorial issue or showing off for the ladies ( how you tell the difference is beyond me but I guess the Iguanas know) but BIG GEORGE…

Crafting in the Caribbean, St. Croix (Day 1-3)
Hey Everyone! I’m blogging from sunny St Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands for the next three weeks. I thought I would have to throw John’s (husband) clothes out to get all my crafting items in the suitcase but we worked it out. Let’s just say my carry-on was probably close to 50 lbs but I was able to get everything I will need to make this the best of all vacations. I have my applique quilt blocks to work on, two strand mittens to knit, crochet thread for a tablecloth…

TNNA Winter 2011
The National Needlework Association @ Long Beach, CA The National Needlework Show is the event from which we draw inspiration and creative energy for knitting, crocheting, needlepoint and other yarn-related crafts. Those of us that have a yarn addiction have been known to stand in front of a yarn booth and break out in a sweat and start to shake. The textures and colors are overwhelming and the model garments and other projects cause us to consider giving up our jobs and spending our days doing little but knitting. Then reality sets in and…

A Warm August
Hoo Wee! Remember all those days I have complained about how cold it is here in the Northwest? Well those days are long gone. We rarely have temps in the 90s and when we do “they” start talking about water rationing for lawns and washing cars … like I wash my car. We actually turned on the air conditioner once we found the manual and learned how to change from heat to cool. As you probably gathered from our needing the manual we don’t use the air conditioning very often. We’ve had 4 days in a row of…
