MATERIALS:
- Clover Amour Crochet Hook G (4 mm)
- Clover Jumbo Tapestry Needle (Bent Point)
- Clover Patchwork Mini Scissors
- tape measure
- sport weight yarn (#2)
NOTES:
- Read the pattern carefully before starting.
- This pattern uses US crochet terms.
- This is a straightforward pattern worked in the round.
- * * Repeat instructions between asterisks as many times as directed or repeat at specified locations.
- The gauge for this pattern is not particularly crucial. You can change the yarn weight and hook size to make your coaster larger or smaller.
- Gauge: round 2 = 1.75″ (diameter)
- Skill level: easy to adventurous beginner
- Finished measurement: about 6″ (diameter)
ABBREVIATIONS:
- ch(s): chain(s)
- dc: double crochet
- fp: front post
- hdc: half double crochet
- mr: magic ring
- rep: repeat
- sc: single crochet
- sk: skip
- slst(s): slip stitch(es)
- st(s): stitch(es)
- tr: treble crochet
- p: picot – ch3 and slst in top of tc
- dc-cl: working three incomplete double crochet stitches into the same base (post) stitch. [Yarn over, insert hook into the stitch, yarn over, pull up a loop (3 loops on hook), yarn over, pull through the first two loops (2 loops remain on hook)] repeat 3 times until 4 loops remain on hook, yarn over, and pull through all 4 loops on hook.

CROCHET CHRISTMAS COASTER PATTERN:
With a red yarn, start with a MR.
- Round 1: Ch3 (counts as 1DC), 11DC into the ring. Pull the yarn tail tightly to close the ring and slst in the 1st st (top of ch 3) to close the round. 12 sts
- Round 2: Ch4 (counts as 1DC and ch-1-sp), (1DC, ch1) in each st around. Slst in the 1st st (3rd ch of ch4) to close the round. 12 sts, 12 ch-1-sps
- Round 3: Ch1 (does not count as a st), (1FPDC-Cl in the next st, ch3) in each st around. Slst in the 1st st to close the round. 12 sts, 12 ch-3-sps

- Round 4: Ch1 (does not count as a st), *1FPSC in the next st, 3SC in the next ch-3-sp*; Rep from * to * around. Slst in the 1st st to close the round. 48 sts

- Round 5: Ch1 (does not count as a st), *1SC in the next st, ch3, sk 3 sts*; Rep from * to * around. Slst in the 1st st to close the round. 12 sts, 12 ch-3-sps
- Round 6: Ch1 (does not count as a st), *(1SC, 1HDC, 1DC, 1TR, P, 1TR, 1DC, 1HDC, 1SC) into the next ch-3-sp, sk the next st*; Rep from * to * around. Slst in the 1st st to close the round. Fasten off and weave in all ends.

Note: Rounds 7 and 8 are worked behind Round 6.
With a green yarn and Round 6 folded (wrong side facing up), attach yarn to any middle st from the 3SC-group in Round 4. Please see the images below for reference.


- Round 7: Ch1 (does not count as a st), *1SC in the middle st from the 3SC-group, ch4, sk 3 sts*; Slst in the 1st st to close the round. 12 sts, 12 ch-4-sps
- Round 8: Ch1 (does not count as a st), *(1SC, 1HDC, 2DC, 1TR, P, 1TR, 2DC, 1HDC, 1SC) into the next ch-4-sp, sk the next st*; Rep from * to * around. Slst in the 1st st to close the round. Fasten off and weave in all ends.
