Sunflower- Crochet Pattern
Hi! It’s Molly from Lou Loops Co. and my kids are already heading back to school next week, so summer definitely feels like it’s winding out. What’s a better transition from summer to fall than a sunflower?! These crochet sunflowers make a super cute and cozy transitional decoration for your home and will brighten any space. Enjoy!

Sunflower
Working in a round:
Round 1: Using brown yarn, make a magic circle or ch2. In the second ch from the
hook make 12 dcs. Join with a ss.
Round 2: 2 dcs in each stitch around, and join with a ss (24).
Round 3 (petals): Attach yellow yarn. All in the same stitch – *Ch 2, dc, ch2, sc in the
second ch from the hook, dc, ch2 and ss. Skip a stitch, and ss into the following
stitch*. This creates one petal. Repeat in between the asterisks* all the way around.
When finished you should have 12 petals. Tie off leaving a very long tail, as we will
be sewing 2 sunflower pieces together.
Repeat the previous steps to make a second sunflower, and set it aside for now.
Leaves
Using green yarn, ch 6. Sc in the second chain from the hook, hdc in the next, dc in
the next 2 stitches, and 4dc in the next stitch. Continuing down the opposite side,
dc in the next 2 stitches, hdc, sc, ch2, sc in the second ch from the hook, then sc in
the next 5 stitches, going back up the side of the leaf, ss, and tie off leaving a long
tail at the top of the leaf.
Repeat the process to make a second leaf.
Stem
Take your leaves, and tie them just slightly above the middle of the wooden rod.
See photos for placement. Wrap your excess yarn towards the top of the rod and
use hot glue to keep it in place. Use your green yarn to start wrapping the rod. Use
a dab of hot glue to hold it in place at the bottom. Make sure you wrap the yarn
carefully around the leaves. Once you reach the top of the rod, use another dab of
hot glue to secure the yarn in place.
Take your sunflowers and sew them almost fully together (make sure the right sides
are facing out). I like to pause when I have 4 petals left, and fill the insides with just
a little bit of poly-fil. Take your stem and hot glue it to the inside of the sunflower.
Let it cool a bit, and then finish sewing your remaining sunflower petals together.
Tie off and weave in any stray ends
