Alex In Cable Land Shawl: Tunisian Crochet Pattern
Hello all! I’m Alex, the crochet and tunisian crochet designer behind With Alex and I’m so happy to be back on the Clover Blog. Today I have a new, tunisian crochet pattern to share with you all, the Alex In Cable Land Shawl! This shawl is full of lace and cables which makes it absolutely gorgeous. Some may even be tricked into thinking this is a knitted shawl, but it’s crochet I promise!
The Alex In Cable Land Shawl was designed for my Tunisian Crochet Cable Series. This shawl is a wonderful make that helps the maker to slow down and enjoy every stitch as the texture twists and slants with beautiful cables and lace details. The amazing drape allows the cabled and lace texture to shine.
The Pale Orchid color-way gives this shawl an ethereal and dreamy quality that makes the wearer feel as if they are walking through an enchanted forest. Wrap this lovely shawl around you on cool summer evenings while you sit around a campfire roasting marshmallows or before you take a walk after a magical rainstorm.
The Alex In Cable Land Shawl was designed with Universal Yarn Uptown Worsted, making this shawl cozy and extra soft. The medium weight yarn works beautifully with this design giving it a wonderful drape. This shawl is a perfect summer accessory and would pair well with a summer dress or even a pair of jeans and a tank top.
I crocheted this shawl with my Clover Interchangeable Tunisian Hook Set, using the size K 6.5 mm hook with one of the included shorter cords. I also used a Clover Cable Stitch Holder for the cables, but a second crochet hook works easily, as well. This pattern is very exciting as the cables and lace are created and this project flew off of my hooks!
The Alex In Cable Land Shawl measures 20″ wide and 76″ long (after blocking) but could easily be made longer by adding another skein of yarn or fringe.

Notes And Other Tutorials
- This pattern is worked flat with the right side of the work facing.
- At the beginning of each row, the first stitch is on the hook and counts as a tunisian knit stitch.
- Do not turn your work at the beginning of each row. Each row is worked from right to left (forward pass) and then from left to right (return pass).
- There is a gauge for this shawl but there are also measurements throughout the pattern.
How To Work Into The Last Stitch Of The Row:
