Hi! I’m Ali, the hands behind The Turtle Trunk. I’m excited to share a new, summer shawl pattern with you today!
The Sunny Daze Shawl is a half hexagon shawl that is made up of double crochets and chains to give it a lacy fabric. It’s lightweight and airy, making it perfect for warm, sunny days. This pattern repeats itself so you can easily adjust the size of your shawl by continuing the repeat as much as you’d like!
With its large and unique shape, this shawl can be made and styled in so many ways! Wrap it around your neck either forwards or backwards, tie it around your waist, or drape it over your shoulders. It’s casual enough for the beach but can also be dressed up for a night out!
This pattern is beginner friendly. If you can double crochet, you can make this shawl! There is a total increase of 6 stitches per row: an increase in each of the 4 corners (+8), then a decrease at the beginning and end of each row (-2). The rows can be worked up mindlessly, just be sure to always work your increase [DC, CH 2, DC] in each of the corners!

Notes
- To adjust the size of the shawl, you can continue to repeat as many times as you desire.
- The CH 2 at the beginning of each row does not count as a stitch.
- Instructions between the asterisks ** are to be repeated until the end of the row or until otherwise stated.
Instructions between [brackets] are to all be worked in the same stitch. - The number in parentheses at the end of the row represents the total number of stitches to be worked in that row. The stitch count will increase by 6 stitches each row.
- The CH 2 corner space is created by the [DC, CH 2, DC] from the previous row. Always work another [DC, CH 2, DC] in that CH 2 corner space. For Row 8 you will work a [DC, CH 2, DC] in that CH 2 corner space then 2DC in all other CH 2 spaces from that row.
