Gnome Christmas Tree Ornaments – Amigurumi Pattern
Hi Everyone! I’m Ashley, the designer and maker behind The Loopy Lamb. I’m so excited to have been invited back to the Clover blog again to share with you a festive, seasonal crochet pattern to make this these Gnome Christmas Tree Ornaments.
I’ve made two different versions of these gnomes for you all today. Both versions of the pattern use the same hat pattern with the main differences being how the beard/base is created and how the nose is attached. The first is crocheted using faux fur yarn for his beard and worsted weight acrylic yarn for his hat. If you haven’t tried faux fur yarns before, I have a video with my top tips and tricks for working with this yarn. You can find it HERE. Faux fur yarn is incredibly forgiving and can give you an incredible end result with minimal effort.
The second version is created using a faux fur pom-pom as his beard and his hat is crocheted with worsted weight acrylic yarn. I’ve created this version specifically for those that are maybe a little too nervous to work with faux fur yarn but still want to make a cute little gnome.
A video tutorial for how to assemble the second version of this pattern is available below or HERE:
When making the hats for your gnomes, it’s important to keep the stitches tight so that the stuffing you’ll add to the hat doesn’t show through. When you crochet tightly, it can be hard on your hands so using a comfortable crochet hook and really help to ease that discomfort. For this design I used a 3.5mm Clover Amour Crochet Hook which is a really comfortable hook that works great for crocheting amigurumi toys and ornaments like these. Locking Stitch Markers are used to keep track of each round in the pattern so make sure to have those handy as well.
