Last week my sewing room went on the road! One of my most favorite activities is attending my Quilt Group’s retreat. This was our 24thretreat together, we started retreats in1986.
Destination is Ocean Shores, Washington. One of our members has a home there and most of us arrive by Wednesday afternoon.
Of course there are stops at every quilt shop and antique stores all along the way!
We settle in with our first meal out; then return for setting up machines and tagging our spots for work/play. Everyone is rapidly catching up with each other and I find myself drifting from one conversation to another…been away too long.
Following breakfast the next morning Laurie is the first to share a completed top for her Granddaughter.
We have various stations setup in the house and this is ironing and cutting.
We always have enough Door Prizes for at least 3 rounds…we all go home with something special.
Many in our group love the peace and quiet of soft conversation while hand quilting.
We do have moments of outrageous laughter and the White Elephant Exchange is sure to bring it on…Sorry no pictures here…I was laughing too hard to hold the camera! Some things are just meant to stay at retreat.
I have been meeting with my group, The Laid Back Ladies of the Block, since 1986. We have been there for each other through good times and bad, through births, deaths, marriages and all of life’s joys and frustrations.
We love and respect each other and our individual talents. We know each other deeply and have amazing acceptance of who we are as people. We are both friends and family.
Believe…Inspire…Create!
